How to watch the new World Cup final live on CNN: Watch highlights here
In addition to the US women’s national team, the world’s best soccer players are taking part in the Women’s World Cup Finals, and the U.S. faces a pair of other great teams in Colombia and Canada.
Here are five things to know about the match between the United States and Colombia.1.
Who are the USWNT?
The United States women’s soccer team won its first title in 2017 by defeating Mexico 2-0 in the Copa America Centenario in Houston, Texas.
This time around, the US team is trying to add to its 2016 success with a victory against Colombia on Friday.
Colombia is a powerhouse in the Central American soccer world, with two gold medals and two silver medals at the 2018 World Cup.
They also won the 2018 Copa Libertadores, which will be played on Tuesday and Wednesday, and have a good chance to win the 2018 Olympics in Tokyo, Japan.2.
What are the key players?
The USWN is a mix of players from all walks of life, and most of them have been playing together for a while.
For the first time, there is a team of American-born players in the top 10 of the FIFA rankings.
The biggest name among them is forward Becky Sauerbrunn, who is now playing in the NWSL.
She’s been a mainstay of the USNT for the past three years, starting with her debut for the U-23s in 2017 and going on to score four goals and six assists.
Sauerbrunken is the only American to score 10 goals in three World Cup games.
The other three players are Abby Wambach, the U23 World Cup MVP, and Megan Rapinoe, the senior NWSL MVP.
The top two in the scoring race are the two Americans, and it’s a combination of a strong defense and a good attacking game that’s helped the U’s win five of their past six matches.3.
What does the U team have to do to win?
The U-20s, who have won the Gold Cup and Women’s Gold Cup, are the team that will be playing Colombia on Tuesday.
Their goalscoring has been great in the World Cup, with nine of their nine goals coming against the Colombian defense.
In 2017, the team had two players who scored more than 10 goals: Lauren Holiday (12 goals) and Megan Amick (nine).
Holiday has been the captain for the US and was named to the 2017 FIFA World Player of the Year team.
Amick has been a standout for the United in 2018, scoring three goals in the final against Honduras and tying her career-high with five assists.
The U-18s are also strong defensively, with five goals conceded.4.
What about the U teams past results?
The U are 0-6-1 against Colombia in the last two World Cups, and they’ve only lost one match this year.
That’s the only World Cup defeat that the U have ever faced.
There’s also a good reason for that: the U is coming off a pair last-minute victories against Mexico and Canada, and there’s been plenty of buildup time for the team in order to prepare for Colombia.
As for the Colombian side, they’ve been in the group stages three times this year, and just missed out on the World Team Championship last year.
That was thanks to a defeat to Brazil.
Is this a rematch of the 2017 Copa América Centenario?
The US won the 2016 Copa Americas Centenario, and Colombia beat the U in the semifinal.
After the semifination, Colombia won the Copas America Centroamericana Centenario and the Women.
This time around the U will face the U17s, the reigning champions of the Women Centro, who will be coming off of a victory in the Gold and Silver Cup.
Here are the results from last year’s tournament.
The U finished a disappointing sixth in the U20s World Cup and the World Women’s Championship in the 2018 U-17 World Cup in Toronto.
The women’s team won silver in 2019 and are hoping to qualify for the 2018 FIFA World Cup on the back of a win in the CONCACAF Champions League.
The US lost the 2016 U-19s U-16 World Cup to the Netherlands, and was knocked out in the second round of the 2018 WNT.
Cristian Rodriguez scored three goals and assisted on three others as the US fell to Jamaica 2-1 in the quarterfinals of the 2019 U-15 World Cup as the U finished eighth in the standings.
Rodriguez has played in four U-14s, and scored two goals and had two assists for the USA in the 2019 World Cup last summer.
